The paper will focuss on the history of FACHIG as an association of grassroots created to develop autonomy in providing services to its members with litle external support. The development organization encountered problems in pursuising its original manadate and deviated to collaborate on relief work with other organizations. In order to re-engage the organization to its original manadate, a resource mobilization exercise was undertaken and triggered the need to generate knowledge, organize the knowledge, share the knowledge and use it in future programming to achieve poverty alleviation.
